Cleaning Across the Ocean
when i was in Gambia i was trying to wash the clothes with my hands. But i was doing it Wrong and my Sisters was laughing at me. I told them im Not use to doing this with my hands, Im use to going to the Laundry place and Let them do it for me. So my big sister Took the Clothes and started washing them with her hands. I was type Jealous because she know how to do Things the hard way, and they Come out perfect and clean. Expecially the society in Gambia is really hard. So for her to do things Like that, its really interesting. To know if your clothes is clean, its suppose to sound squeeky while your cleaning it,the soap they use is black african soap, is Good soap, you can take a shower with it, wash your hair with it. Very excellent for people, Has great results) and when you look in your bucket the water should end up black, the soap should be half done, and then you hang it up for drying. So hopefully it should be dry in the next day, depending what you washed. i Think this was better because is saving more money for me. So i decided to learn the Hard way.

I enjoy your little anecdote on being used to wash your clothes at a laundromat, but having to learn a new way to clean in Gambia. Really connects your world in the U.S.A. to a change in basic tasks in Gambia.
ReplyDeleteThank You :-*
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! I loved the fact that you taught me something new (Black Soap). Whenever I'm home and too busy to go to the laundry mat, I will try your way of washing clothes. Thanks.
